As part of our ongoing efforts to help you live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, Life Time Athletic has partnered with Garden Farms for a showing of the movie “Ingredients” on Thursday January 19th at the Life Time facility on West Charleston Boulevard in Summerlin.
This important documentary, narrated by actress Bebe Neuwirth, weighs the shortcomings of America's current industrialized food system against the rising local-growth movement. Leading chefs, growers, restaurateurs and everyday consumers from around the country discuss what they are doing to bring food production back home. Las Vegas now has an opportunity to learn and source their own local food, plans are being laid for community development of Farm Locals a sustaibable food system to promote healthy choices in our own food system.
The evening starts with a reception in the Café at 6 PM, Smoothie tastings and menu item samplings will be provided. The feature movie will begin immediately after the reception at 7 PM.
The first 30 attendees will receive The Official Garden Farms Guide – An Organic Opportunity, the new book on organic farming by Garden Farms Director Bryan Vellinga. All attendees will receive a free day pass so they can experience Life Time Athletics world-class facilities for themselves.
Attendees are encouraged to remain after the movie to meet Bryan and discuss the movie and his new book. Please we must RSVP and bring confirmation to gain entrance due to limited seating and swag.
Bryan Vellinga has been in the landscaping and gardening industry for over 25 years. After working as Director of Horticulture for the MGM Grand properties, he founded and still operates Garden Farms located in Las Vegas. Over the years, Bryan has developed an uncanny ability to be able to grow vegetables, fruit trees throughout the harsh desert climate of Nevada.
This spring, Bryan’s book on organic gardening “The Official Garden Farms Guide – An Organic Opportunity” will be published in both in print and digital formats. Look for it on Amazon.com and iTunes this coming week.
